Dr. Johnston is a Registered Clinical and Forensic/Correctional Psychologist with more than 28 years of hospital based experience. He has worked extensively with outpatients as well as inpatients. He works with troubled adults providing assessment, diagnosis and psychotherapy. His experience includes working at two hospitals; one full time since 1987, the other as a part time consultant from 1991 to 2011.
In addition, Dr. Johnston works closely with the Forensic Mental Health Program at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, as well as the judiciary system and the Northwestern Ontario Sexual Behaviours Program (NOSBP). This work involves the psychiatric, characterological, intellectual, risk of recidivism and malingering assessment of forensic and correctional patients. This includes assessment and treatment for both inpatients and outpatients.
Dr. Johnston has performed countless insurance and psychopathology assessments. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Lakehead University, as well as a Lecturer with the University of Toronto and supervises both graduate psychology students and psychiatric residents.
